At FODPA we strive not only for excellence but for “exceptionalism.” We define this approach to the arts this way: The act of going above and beyond earthly capabilities to enjoy God’s artistry in His creation.
Field of Dreams Performing Arts stands ready to engage every student, young and old, with the opportunity to “OPEN THE DOORS TO THEIR DREAMS.” Our mission is to provide excellent, professional training in a supportive, Christian environment to those in the greater Raleigh area. We offer dance, vocal, acting, and theater classes for all ages and levels from recreational to professional. FODPA has a friendly, non-competitive atmosphere where your child can build self-esteem and a will to serve our Community.
The staff of Field of Dreams ranks amongst some of the best in the area. Collectively, our instructors bring many, many years of professional experience in dance, theater, and voice. Heart of Worship Dance Instructor
Devon trained in ballet, tap, and jazz throughout her childhood in Los Angeles, California. In high-school she participated in several theatre and musical productions in addition to her continued dance training. Torn between a desire to pursue musical theatre/dance as a career and a growing passion for Christian ministry, she chose to attend Wheaton college. There were no dance opportunities at Wheaton at the time, which meant that the dream of continuing to dance would have to die. However, as Devon and several classmates began meeting to worship and pray together through dance, an official college ministry was born that led to opportunities to dance in chapels, concerts, churches, and local prisons.
Over the past 17 years Devon has served as a pastor's wife and the mom of five wonderful kids. She has also founded and led in dance ministries in Kansas City, MO and Knoxville, Tennessee. She has choreographed and danced in a wide variety of church and outreach events, including several international contexts. Over three years in Knoxville, Devon taught an interpretive worship class at the Tennessee Conservatory of Fine Arts. Additionally, she has led workshops across the country training dancers in how to glorify God through movement, as well as the biblical foundations for doing so. She graduated this May with her MA in Biblical Counseling from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and her family recently moved to Raleigh as her husband joined the pastoral staff of Christ Baptist Church. She is excited to invest in the students of Field of Dreams and be a part of what God is doing through this wonderful studio.
